Oxide AI Tools

Is Journeyapps planning on adding AI coding tools like Coderabbit for automatic code reviews, Windsurf/ Qudo, Google Gemini Code assist etc. There are integrations for VS code but we stuck doing live development in Oxide.

Thanks, Martin

Hi @martin

We don’t have any plans yet, but are looking for the most pragmatic and practical way of integrating AI with the developer experience, obviously taking into account the somewhat “proprietary” nature of the JA syntax. Practically this means that we would need to “write, teach, program, train” our own AI model to make the service useful, and there just isn’t enough freely available code examples we can use to train the model at this stage. All our developers’ / customers’ code belongs to them, so we cannot use any existing code (except that which is freely available on our Doc site, or here on our forums) to train the AI engine.

That said, we are continuing to look for opportunities to integrate AI into the offering, we just haven’t found the right one (at least not at time of writing)
